We flew from Islamabad to Skardu for a two week trek to K2 base camp in Pakistan. It took about a week to get there, which meant 6-7 hours of moderate trekking across the Baltoro Glacier each day. The views were incredible, the air incredibly crisp, and the porters extremely friendly (and fast)! We arrived at Concordia base camp and continued on to K2 base camp. On our trek out, we stopped over at Trango Tower base camp and met up with a climbing expedition team! It was a nice surprise to see other rock climbing enthusiasts in the mountains. The amazing trek from Askole, Pakistan to K2 basecamp takes about 7 days (one way) and covers a lot of distance down the Baltoro Glacier. If you decide to go to Pakistan to trek, this is not to be missed. Retracing your path back to Askole is not the best way, but if the high pass (Ghongodoro La) is closed then you will have to do that. An extra two days will get you to Trango Tower base camp on the way there or back.
