It's not really a "health" condition. But I have really bad knees(pattelar tracking disorder and sciatica which effects my whole body).
I wanna get my thighs toned but don't know many other exercises to do so besides lunges and others that are hard on my knees.
Any help?

My kneecap doesn't track right either, after a bad blowout two years ago.
I'm guessing you want to tone your quadriceps. They will be worked by anything that straightens the leg. Have you tried leg pressing?

I've had knee surgery and I'm super knock-kneed. The bones grind loudly everytime I bend my knees. On rainy days when it just hurts, I do wall squats, it's static holds. Works the quads without involving the knees.

Lunges are very hard on my knees as well- one thing to make sure of is that you are balancing correctly, and running correctly for that matter! I had NO idea I was running incorrectly until I went to do a Gait analysis (running test) after finding out about 3 herniated disks in my back. If you can find somewhere to take this test, it may help, they should also go over stretches, lunges, squats etc.... But one thing I have found that isn't as much pain on my knees that really helps with legs is the stair stepper machine. I will walk forward backward and on both sides (be careful doing this!). It's really helped! I have "saddle bags") its like the hardest thing to lose off my body & that is what melted them off!

I suggest you do the Level 1 90 Second Fitness Solution Workout, which is on this site. It takes 11:30 minutes and is very easy on your knees. In fact, I can't imagine any health condition it would not be a good option for.
I have asked my cardiologist about it, showing him the exercises and gotten a green light for it. I've also discussed the exercises with my GP and received the all clear.
So, you might give it a try.

I have knee problems too thanks to being a gymnast. When I was out cuz of my knee I still had to show up to practices and condition while everyone else got to do all the fun things. Here's a couple that will work for you.
Sit in a straddle on the floor, place both hands on either side of your right knee and lean forward. Now lift your right leg up as high as you can 50 times. Repeat on left leg. Then try both legs at the same time.
Lay pn your back with one leg streight up in the air. Keep it streight dont let your knee bend and keep your toes pointed. Make sure it's straight up in the air at a 90 degree angle from the floor. Switch legs. As you bring one leg down bring the other up. Switch again. 50 times.

YOGA! I have Neuropathy (like fibro but for diabetics and just in feet hands and legs). I'm only 33! The meds they stick you on make you blow up like a ballon! I'm a fan of yoga and running to really get my endorphins to kick in and put my pain at bay :). I also get a b12 shot and get vitamin d supplements they help a ton! I eat a plant based gluten green whole foods diet and that helps... And Zostrix cream! That too!

Have fibro, am new to site. 53 yr old male, less able-bodied than my 80+ yr old friends. Chi quong class at sr center or tai chi if more able-bodied have been great! Am looking for workouts that can be done in a chair, personally.
My pain level is extreme, it limits my capability.

I have bad joints especially in mtg hands, knees and ankles and have hypermobility. Muscles/ligaments around my joints get very tight if I don't exercise and stretch and my joints hurt more then too.
I was advised to buy a triggerpoint roller and I use it for inside and front of thigh and it band and that really loosens everything and makes my knees feel better. Also do daily stretches for my glutes.
Instead of regular push ups I do them on my knees (since they don't hurt as much) and the elbow plank instead of the standing one so my wrists don't hurt.
Cross trainers, rowing and cycling also are good ways to strengthen legs.
Sadly I haven't been able to run since finding out about all of this 5 months ago. I only ran for 3 months but I loved it. Hopefully I will be able to as I'm only 27.

I am in the same boat. I'm 54 and have been disabled since 1996 due to chronic pain. My pain level is also pretty high even with all the meds they have me on. Without them I would be bedridden and unable to walk. With them I can walk with a cane or walker if it's any distance at all. I can't stand for very long, lay in one spot very long or sit for very long without a sharp increase in pain. If you come up with some exercises that work for you, please let me know and I will do the same. Good luck and take care.
