6 hours and I am good to go. Anything more and I am cranky in the morning :)
Anything less and I feel like taking a nap in the middle of the day.

I generally get about 6+ hours. More sleep only comes if I'm ill.

To get by day to day about 7.
To wake utterly refreshed (happened twice in my life) about 14

7 hours for me and I'm good to go! More or less than that and I'm just as dead as the neighbours cat.

Your body needs 7 hours of sleepto keep you packing on additional weight and repair correctly. You may feel good at 6 but aim for 7 to 7.5 hours everyday and try to keep the same schedule even on the weekends for best results.

I will work on it!

7 hours and a half and I'm perfect! But after sports I would usually need a bit more...

Kendra, you are way off, no offense. It's not so much how you feel exactly but the recouperation of your body. If you're not working out, do what you want but if you are, then get your sleep so you can get the results you want without wasting your time and workouts.

Whoa, calm down lol, my statement is for the average person. If you have a special condition, thats fine but it's not good to give that info to someone who is looking for an across the board fact. If it helps with my answer, I am a former Army Ranger, I fought MMA for 3 years, I am a nutritional coach as well as a strength and conditioning trainer. Congrats on all that you do, I juat try to give the best advice to those that do not know how to gage their body yet.

Haha I was simply stating how much sleep I need...the question was asked, I answered. Wasn't gettin sassy on ya.haha

Also, it seemed to me as if everyone was answering to their personal needs not giving an "across the bored fact." I wasn't suggesting for ppl to sleep 4 hours.

No sleep. Lol. Just kidding. I work mostly night shift as a RN, so my sleep cycle is a little skewed! On my days off, I tend to get about 7 - 8 hours and if I'm really having a hard time adjusting to sleeping at night, I take medication. Rest is important!

me & sleeping dont get along much
i mostly sleep 1-2 or less during the week & get a full 8 hours charge at the weekend

04 Dec
That's unbelievable! Do you sleep the whole summer to catch up?
06 Dec
I used to do that when i was in school. The stress would keep me up at night during the week, and on the weekend i would sleep for 12 hours or longer.

I get about 4-6 hrs every night but not by choice. I can't get to sleep before 330am cuz I just can't go to sleep  and my daughter wakes up between 7-9. I can't take sleep meds cuz I'll be in too deep of sleep to hear if she wakes up at night so sleep wise I'm just screwed  lol

So last night I went to bed at 10. Woke up at  1 and couldn't sleep til 3 or 4.  Then woke at 7.  That's what happens when I go to bed early.

Interesting seeing what you all feel is adequate for you.  New study released today shows lack of enough sleep can lead to heart disease and diabetes.  Your brain needs time to cycle through the sleep stages to be effective.  I only saw the news blurb havent read the study.

Me I feel good enough to think and function after 6 but try for 7.5 to 8 when possible
