I am new and pretty clueless as to how this works. Any good tips?

Consistency...seems like folks start quick, don't see immediate progress and quit so the best tip is find a way to be consistent day in, day out and find some like minded folks for support and don't forget to have sum fun!!

Anthony's made a good point. For example you might want to browse the forum to find a challenge that you like and get working on your fitness together with other people. That's helpful!

pick areas to work on and then pick workouts targeting those areas

I do 5 workouts a week one a day and 2 rest days

this is my go to total body workouts depending on how hard you wanna go.

not so mini massacre moderate
