I do a lot of calisthenics only bc I want longer leaner muscles but I also lift weights. I think its great to mix it up so your body doesn't get too comfortable :)
Plus it keeps your heart rate up and your burning fat while creating lean muscle. I love calisthenics!!!!
I do both personaly and cross training your body needs constant challenges to stay growing. "NO SURRENDER"
When I was running, I noticed how easy it was to work off the fat protein shakes put on. Shin splints and Compression later, I had to do something about the lack of cardio fitness and extra fat. Calisthenics... Hard... Non-stop. Keeping the body moving and calorie burning like running.
I love calisthenics - my favourite! But I also do weights. It's good to mix things up but if I had to choose I'd say definitely calisthenics as bodybuilding alone builds stiff, inefficient muscle that is easily fatigued. Calisthenics on the other hand increases dynamic strength and strength-endurance.
