I am training for a marathon and would like to know which workouts would help me shorten my time

i am not an expert runner. i have only done 1 half marathon and abour to do ny second.but they say doing speed intervals will help with time.

Thanks been doing speed intervals and hill workouts but I also heard that ab workouts help to...wasn't sure if there were other muscle groups to work on as well
