How can we get gym plate machines added to the Skimble database?

I have subscribed to Pro+ and love using the App but frustrated that I have to create my workouts selecting exercises such as Dumbbell Chest Press because the Skimble database has no Gym plate machines listed.

Surely I am not the only person with a gym membership who likes to use the numerous plate machines?

I am happy to supply photos of all the machines in my Gym if that will help motivate the addition into the exercise database..

Hi Ed, thanks for the feedback! We'll see what we can do to add more gym mods to our database.

FYI, as a PRO+ member, you can upload your own exercise photos in workouts you create - hope this helps before we add more exercises that you are looking for!

1) Align the web and app features and usability
2) Clean up the navigation when making new workouts or editing, right now it is VERY unintuitive
3) Make it possible to import data from misc. running aps e.g. Runmeter, so running sessions can be added to workouts and calories etc...


Besides that, great app

Please fix the bugs of team feature, integrate it in the app in a proper official release. It seems to remains in beta for ages now and no bugs feedback has been corrected as far as I know. Thanks a lot for this wonderful app!

I just wanted to say this app is awesome! I love how responsive you are to suggestions. Just when I thought it couldn't get any better you came up with even better updates.

I just want to place a request for a zumba workout or more dance workouts again :) :)

The photographs section in the main page feels a bit unnecessary but maybe that's just me.

I love the app!

I have a question about the widget for android users, is there a way to customize them to see my created or recent workouts? If not would that be something you could work on for a future update?

Hey guys,

This may be also me but since the last update with the fancy new blue design I find it hard to differentiate between a 'liked' workout (also a main indicator for me personally whether I've done a workout already) and one that I did not (yet) 'like' via button as the two different blues appear quite similar on my phone. Can you think about another option for the colors?

Hmm, yeah, we had to refresh the icons / colors there but understand what you are saying - we will work on that and include something better in the next update!

I've got 2 questions. ON website, we can add our weight. But weight isn't everything. Can we get more arrays for belly (inch/cm) and body fat (%) ?

 

We have the schedule button. For me it would be better to have a to do list button. So I can add the workouts I want to do within a day or week without adding to my schedule and timing. My idea is, just to click the to do button and a workout will be added. In this list, I want to move the workouts to change the sorting and a remove button.

 

Thanks again for this great app! You're doing a fantastic job. Would be even more fantastic, if you can fulfill my wishes;-)

Thanks for the suggestions! Perhaps you can use collections for your TODO idea? You can re-order both your list of collections so that is the top one and appears on the dashboard. And then you can put your upcoming ones at the top of the collection. The belly and body fat features are good ideas - will think on that.

Linking to a forum topic in the link to tab. So you can link ppl to some good information in several topics. If the option is there I haven't found it in the app.

Was thinking about this yesterday. No there isn't an option in the app. I do that via browser, full website version. It used to actually create clickable links last year, but not any more. Although we end up bumping to the top some good topics every now and then... Don't know if a button would be worth it.

As a Pro Member how do I add my Gym's or my home Gym Equipment to the list of equipment I can use to build my custom workouts?

For example I use 10 different plate machines regularly and though they are common machines, currently none of these appear to be listed in the Skimble app and therefore are unavailable to me.

I have photographs of each machine and would like to be able to truly customise my workouts using the equipment I have access to rather than always have to use the list in Skimble.

There are some similar but different free weight equivalents to the common plate machines I use but not all. I don't use dumbells or free weights as I'm recovering from knee replacement surgery and use the plate machines to avoid potential twisting of the knee when picking up and moving weights around.

The plate machines I use are the basic machines in pretty much any public gym.

  • Back Extention or Abdominal Crunch (One machine)
  • Leg Press or Calf Extension (One machine)
  • Chest Press
  • Lat Pulldown
  • Leg Extension
  • Pek Fly
  • Seated Row
  • Shoulder Press
  • Lying Leg Curl

I love the app and the discipline it gives in sticking to a predesigned workout and timing of rests etc but am growing frustrated that basic gear I use doesn't appear to be in the database of exercises and I cannot find a way to add it.

Hi Ed - thanks for posting and sorry it is not easier to add your own exercises. Right now the best way to do this is to create a prototype workout with all of those exercises in them (you can add photos for each exercise when creating the workout). Then, duplicate that workout and modify it to include the proper ones you want. We are working on adding more exercises to our database as well as allowing people like you to more easily add your own exercises, but not sure when that will happen. Thanks!

Workouts or training program specific to activity. I've seen lots for running but would like workouts to complement climbing, biking etc.

Check out the rock climbing workout category for some of those and same goes for biking. We are always trying to add more content - thanks for the suggestion!

I would like one option to postpone or pause one or more treining. Now I have 39°C and the app say I miss last 2 day of trening... It's sad like I'm not felling bad enought.

Hi Lean, are you referring to a training program or an individual scheduled workout? If you miss a workout in your training program it won't skip it. When you're ready to restart just hit the Reschedule button. Also, if you miss a workout that you've scheduled just go back to that workout and re-schedule it when you think you'll be ready to workout again.

You can reschedule your program, but wait to do it on the day that you feel better...it will start your remaining workouts on the day you hit the "reschedule" button

I started using skimble because it was a recommended app for Samsung Gear fit users (S Health app). I like the work outs but don't like that I have to track everything from skimble separate from my pedometer and food diary it would be great if you work outs could be transfered to this app that already has an association with you. I hate looking at my exercise data and seeing blank days where I do other exercises than running.

I am mainly wanting to see that I am actually active when I look at periods of time. But I would like to see the estimated calories and intensity and duration of the work out as well.

This is actually a good observation, currently the app focuses a lot on number wo's but there are a lot of 1 hour long intense ones, so it's a bit misleading. It's like encouraging people to log 1 min plank, 1 min crunches etc......

I'm hoping that you bring back the "in app notifications". I found them really helpful to keep me updated on communication from others without getting loaded with emails.

This is not a suggestion  but  thank you for tbe best app ever!  I just really need to say how much I love this app.  It just keeps getting better and better.  Love the new programs and the workout collection is awesome.  Thank you skimble for making exercising so easy and organized!

How about a section with release notes where one can check out what changed or which new functionalities were incorporated with the latest updates? Would be easier to recognise what's new, where to find stuff once used and maybe even directly comment on or suggest improvements, not even necessarily in public.

Thanks for the suggestion. We will try to post to the forums our release notes in the future. We are still doing a partial rollout of the latest Android update, so haven't mentioned it yet anywhere. If you have any private comments to make, then feel free to email support!

I don't have problems with public suggestions, but users may have and maybe PMs directly out of an and related to a release notes section would make it easier for you to follow-up on instead of comments in a topic. Maybe the section could also comprise improvements already planned so everybody knows what we can look forward to

Would it be possible to choose which data to delete when cleaning the cache? I'm thinking maybe three categories of data saved on the phone.

Reason I'm asking is that I want to protect my offline workouts from being deleted with the rest of the stuff (images, posts and so on). It's a little bit annoying having to find and download them again whenever there's the need to make free space on the internal memory card.

It would be awesome if there was a way to modify the amount of time there is for different exercises in the programs. I love doing the yoga programs but by the time I actually get into the pose it's time to move on to the next pose. How they are right now I'm having to print off the routine and use a different timer while referencing the app for how the poses are done it's a big headache.

Is there a way to schedule all your work outs in the week days?  Also is there a way to pick the day that you want to do your work outs or have the ability to move a work out to the next day or another day?

From what I understand (never used it so far) if you open/view a wo, you can "schedule" the wo which, at least on Android, creates a standard entry in my calender app (S Planner). This of course can be moved/edited/whatever

It would be great to be able to copy a workout. Sometimes I create one and want to keep it but also have a similar one. The best and shortest way is to copy and edit an existing one

You can already do this via the menu option available in the toolbar when viewing a workout. The only restriction is you can't copy our PRO workouts

Please adjust the times you have for exercises. Every workout I do, which have been created by skimble, take more time than said in the description.
