Is it true That if I let people beat on my core it will be able to take more over time? and does it also aid in getting abs?

I used to that, once I knew my core was hard, but not while preparing it. Prepare it first, meaning do abs, squats, lunges, russian twist, stability ball push ups(the big balls) and so forth and from time to time do punch yourself (not hard) and see how it feels or ask for opinions to friends and family to see and then you take it from there.

Nah dude, that's stuff you see on tv. That's only to see how much can you take. Aka How strong you are
