Sorry. ..you can't practice how to fight without a counterpart,  how not to be punched...how to stand the punches,  the right techniques to stand a low Kick,  middle kick...you need to interact with someone.

Working technique on the heavybag is a good start. But at some point a teacher and sparring has to come into play

I do big part of a work out at home - strength, cardio, stretching, bit of shadow boxing. But for the technique I would say proper trainer is essential. Even if it's only few lessons to get the basics right and then you can master it at home

Btw bas rutten has some great dvd's aswell. Check those out on youtube. Great teacher.
