Getting fit, toning up and gaining a little weight?

Any ideas on what types of workouts I should be doing? Or food types I should be eating?

Weight lifting. Anything to work your muscles. Eat protein. Eat regularly. I've been gaining weight from working out but its muscle. Like 5 pounds. In a month.
