Shin splints!!!! Help

I recently discovery horrible shin splints... Many runners have told me they have never seen anything like it..... I literally get rock hard whelps on my legs and cant walk .... Please help

Do u run on concrete? What helps my whole body recover is using a foam roller. Got it from walmart for $14.

Ok,#1 u need rest. Put ice on them for 20-30min every 3-4hours. Run on soft areas like the track &grass. Switching up to asphalt to concrete can cause shin splints. Have on proper shoes! Run on your toes not your heels. Hope these help:-) but please ..rest rest rest!

#1 REST until u are healed run again. Run on a surface like the track or grass. Switching up from concrete to asphalt,to bumpy parts of road or grass can cause shin splints. Wear proper shoes(running shoes) with an excellent arch. DO NOT RUN FLAT FOOTED. u might want to try to ice them 20-30mins every 3-4 hours. The shin splints that you are talking about sound really bad... My shins just get sore, and I have to take a few days off of running. You had better go to a doctor.

Hey try heating it up and cooling it down for a while dont do any running till it heals u dont want to actualy get to the point relearn how to walk.try it if dont work see the doctor

Thats why im angry... I run on soft surfaces. I have great running shoes. I ice them and stretch... It wont go away

I sent out two msgs sorry. Well i dont understand. Take a break from running. Instead do jump rope for now. Jump roping is better anyway. Your legs get defined quicker &burn more calories in ten mintues than u do when u run for 30min. Get weighted jump ropes at walmart. :-)

I jump rope already.... But running is my passion im lost without it im trainin for a half marathon!

Are u flatt footed cause it mainly happen to flatt footed runner

Have you ever looked @ ur running stride?   I used to get shin splints & severe knee pain when running.   After looking @ my stride I found I was running with a heel strike. 
Once I got to a mid-foot strike w a forward lean from my ankles & a cadence that limited the bounce of Mt stride.  It did wonders to reduce pain.

I've found that since correcting my heel strike running has become so much more enjoyable! :-) The hell strike was explained to me as slamming on the brakes w every stride, then powering thru

don't forget to have a good stretching routine. I used to get sin splints all the time (never that bad though).

As the others said great recommendations, rest worked for me. When I ran too much I got shin splints but after rest for a few weeks it was solved
