Replace things you normally eat with healthier options, white rice, try brown, pasta, try whole wheat, quinoa is a good carb and has lots of protein. Sweet potatoes for regular ones.
Eat fresh veggies and fruit, when you can't eat fresh go with frozen, try and stay away from canned items or boxed items, eat lean meats, fish, chicken, tuna, turkey. Eat red meat sparingly. I eat bread but it has to be healthy life low carb since I'm border line diabetic,
I also eat yogurt, almonds, just try to keep what you eat in or as close to its natural state as possible. Right now fresh fruits and veggies a in abundance, in the fall it will be harder to find fresh,
