Hello. I am 17 years old and I am doing my first 5k run on September 21st. I need some help preparing for it though. I found out just a few months ago that I have a sport induces asthma so I have to deal with that along with the fact that I'm not much of a runner. But this 5 k is for a cause I am really into and grateful for so I feel as if I need to do it. What are some tips that ya'll can give to me? I have access to a treadmill and open non busy roads.

With your asthma take it 15- 20 minutes before you workout. I have the same thing and this always works

You should practice on effort like here is a workout to do :
5x1 min run 2min recovery between each set
5x2 min run 2min recovery between each set
5x3 min run 2min recovery between each set
5x4 min run 2min recovery between each set
5x5 min run 2min recovery between each set
   Remember to keep the same pace in all the running period also the pace you will be running is the same pace you will run at in the 5k race (keep the same effort)

Also do bridge workouts and hills.

I have a Couch 2 5K running AP on my phobe that helps me.
