All fat is lost the same way, whether it be belly fat, butt fat, thigh fat or arm fat: by burning calories. When you burn calories, fat in your body is burnt equally. This means that while your belly fat melts, the rest of your fat will, too.
The best way to burn calories is by doing cardio. Biking, jogging, walking briskly, swimming laps, kayaking are all examples of easy to do cardio. If you want to do cardio in the comfort of your home, then you need to work out. Start with some of the casual cardio workouts here. There are lots. You should do at least half an hour three times a week to see results in the not so distant future, and as you lose weight, you should advance towards tougher workouts that will burn more calories.
Don't do targeted workouts, like ab and butt workouts, until you feel most of the unnecessary fat is gone. If you start with targeted workouts, you will not see results because the muscles you are toning are hidden behind the fat.
Depending on the shape you are in, you might want to start with stretching and flexibility work. This will prepare you for the actual workout if you are out of shape and help prevent injuries.
