Hi - you can check out Runnersworld.com and look at the latest fall shoe 2013 rankings for women. I've personally not tried Brooks but it's garnering a lot of attention these days. I'm personally a fan of Asics Excel or the New Balance 890s, but you can't go wrong with a Mizuno or Saucony either. Finally, it comes down to personal preference and what kind of cushioning suits you best. I would try the Runners world list and then go to the nearest showroom and try out a few of them and pick the one you like best. Good luck!

Asics and mizunos are my favorites. Do u have a Fleet Feet near? U can get a fitting and they can tell u what type of running shoe will be better.  Holabird sports, running world, runningcenters.com are sites i look for mine.

Worked in selling sport shoes for over a year and I have to say
It goes

Asics
Brooks
Nike
Adidas

Its mostly about getting the right support that you need
What you also feel most comfortable to work out in and run in

For weight use- flat soled shoes- nike free runs great

For running- supported soles asics have gel and inbuilt arch support
