It's it better to lift heavy and do less reps or lift light and do many reps?

They both tone. In my experience, heavier weights tone faster. I prefer the most efficient workout possible so I tend to go heavy. It takes a long time to tone with a tons of reps.

If you lift heavy with less reps you will gain muscle and weight
If you do max reps you will define your shape
Now it depens what you are looking for
