I've been doing pushups about all my life now and I'm wondering what muscles it actually exercises. Besides chest of course! And if it is enough to do just do pushups for upper body workouts

Different variations work different muscles including triceps, chest, back, forearms, biceps, core, and even legs but the real work is upper body! You also can add weight do elevated, wall, and lots of other things to make them different!

Deltoids pecs and triceps. And depends on your goal. If you want get a big chiseled chest you'll have to do a lot more.

Serratus anterior if you protract your shoulder at the top.
