You need to mainly change your diet to lose fat. Cut out sugar, sodas, fast food. Use Myfitnesspal or some other app to keep track of your food intake. Drink enough water and eat healthy, homemade food with lots of vegetables. Do some research and find what works for you.
Working out tones you, builds muscle and burns calories and can help you in weight-loss, but diet is 80%. High intensity cardio and weight training are my best bet.
Remember that diet does not mean starving yourself or depriving yourself of everything for a limited time. It means eating healthy as a lifestyle and it's completely acceptable and allowed to have cheat days as long as you stay on track the rest of the week. Good luck!
