Possible injury risk

I was wondering if intense leg workouts which tears muscle fibres quite a lot could increase my risk of pulling or maybe even tearing a leg muscle in fitness sessions later on? I'm a field hockey player and our fitness routines are intense to say the least.

Please give your opinion :)

Only if the intensity of the workout breaks down the muscle fibers to the point were they are unable to fire effectively and comprises the joint or surrounding soft tissues.
