What is the single handedly most important tip/think to do or remember when working out and getting were you want to get? (Stretching, never give up, diet, explosive workouts, ect...) To go more in detail, my goal is to dunk a bball by next year. I can about touch the rim and I'm like 5'7 and a Sophomore. Do tons of bodybuilding, martial arts, and stuff like that, but basketballs my favorite (am I'm REALLY good at it) so I wouldn't want to give up on playing or any goals.

If you want to improve your vertical jump you have to focus on exercises that use a vertical force. Studie comparing the front squat with the hip truster for the effect on the vertical jump found the front squat to be significant superior towards a higher jump. This is most likely due to the force axe. Which is vertical.

So what I would advice you to focus on are, exercises that are vertical in force output. As the front and back squat,box jumps. And the likes of them. They have to be performed fast and heavy. This is off course all relative. But there aren't many athletic gains to be made by squatting light and slow. If you want to include a more hip heavy exercise a deadlift or hip trust variant is never a bad thing.
