Do we need rest in bodyweight workout or not

Done right, a bodyweight workout can be as challenging as a workout with equipment. In any resistance workout, whether it be weights, bands, bodyweight, etc., the role of rests, besides simply making things more comfortable, is to allow the muscles a chance to recharge with energy, allowing you to perform another set at nearly maximum capacity, which, in theory, triggers a much better response in muscle adaptation (which means you get stronger).
However, doing different exercises one right after the other, aka "circuit style," is one way of working out in which there is no full body rest, but each exercise moves onto a different muscle group, giving the other muscles a chance to rest. Usually a circuit ends with a brief full body rest before being repeated. Another very common way is where you perform a set of an exercise, wait your planned rest period, then do the same exercise again for a few more sets before moving on to the next exercise. This allows you to push your body closer to maximum capability each time, which can trigger more muscle adaptation.

So to answer your question, if your goal is just to burn calories, rests are not really necessary, but if your goals include hypertrophy or strength, rests may be a good idea.
