Anytime you're working on your form for any exercise it's best to start out light. I.E; body weight or minimal weights. If you're not sure how to correctly do an exercise there are several avenues. YouTube videos, web searching, image searching, and once you have a general idea of what to do get after it. Ask someone in a gym to give feed back on your form, or take a video of yourself and see for yourself what your form looks like. Hope this helps :)

Just pick out beginning-level workouts. 

I find wearing a heart rate monitor really, really helps to know how hard or gently I have worked out, and what my heart rates were, and about how many calories I've burned. 

You CAN figure this out. Also, daily brisk walks also are great for getting back into exercising.
