Sprained ankle but want to workout

Hi I've badly sprained my ankle and have been told it will be up to 8 weeks before it's better. I don't want to start getting flabby and pile on weight while I'm inactive. Does anyone have any ideas of things I can do that would work when I can't stand or weight bear through that ankle? Thanks

Hi there, well just try and do excersises that dont need your legs/ feet. For example lift weights whilst sitting down .hope this helped!

Thanks both I will definitely have a go.  I normally do a lot of barre workouts and boxercise so I went into panic mode when I knew they were off limits.  Thans again :-)

Your welcome nicola, i known how you feel as i had a trip down some stairs awhile ago and felt the exact same way. Had a back slab cast on for a few days for a possible fracture, turned out to be a nasty sprain and just scar tissue showing up on the xray :-)

Anything that doesn't engage your foot or ankle. Just pretentious you have only one foot while working out and you ll come to think of your balance just on the one foot. :)
