It numbs the muscles from being sore and preventing latic acid bulid up but its easy to cramp up when you get in it
Well, I'm in track and after interval days, I'm in the ice bath for quite a while. It's mostly to prevent your muscles from tearing after intense workouts. The ice keeps the swelling down. Hope that helped!
Marathon runners, pro cyclists too. Clothed, in cold water bathtub, add 2 doz icecubes, sit there for 10 minutes, hot shower next, then a massage. I have done 26 marathons ......26 miles 385 yards.....it works.
