When to take a break from workout!?

I was wondering, when you need to stop with your workout for a bit...Do you stop when your muscles hurt? When you're tired? What to do when you're not working out? Please HELP...

When you are injured. Everything else is just a lame excuse. You can take short breaks to drink or take a quick breath of air. But be back at it asap :-)

Oh, I was wondering when to take a break like for a day or two, not during the workout...

Then it really depends on what and how you are training. You need to give some more info before you can get a real answer...
