Cooling down is important. Abruptly stopping vigorous activity can be dangerous because the blood that has pooled in the extremities may not be delivered quickly enough to the heart and brain. (NCCPT Coursework)

Walking in place knees lifting high for approximately 3 min should get your HR back safely

I cut down the challenge on the treadmill at the end of each cardio session little by little by reducing inclination and pace over 5mins.
