Hi im in similar situation ): Used to run every sat sun but for a month already unable to do any exercise without worrying relapse. Goodluck to us!

Flooder kicks, or swimming something that doesn't put strain in ur leg.

Your knee is not the problem. Watch you foot mobility and hip stability. Disbalances will transfer to your knee which causes pain.
Another problem might be your IT band that is tight. Stretches might help here.
