How do i fix or help it get better when i run i have pains and a sound that sounds like bones crunching against each other

Stop running, you need to build up strenth in the ligaments and tendons, try doing so laying down leg exercise casually taking your body weight off the knee for a while cut the runs down if you have to still run,

I gave up football 3 years ago so i dnt run much anymore and what sort of leg exercises do i do to strengthen the ligaments up
