Look at the foods in the south beach or Mediterranean diet, stay away from anything with a ingredient list. Always when eating out ask for a doggie bag and put half in it for later. Use a smaller plate.
Try noom or myfitnesspal, those are calorie counting apps, basically food diary that does a lot of the work for you. I think noom is a little more involved in helping direct your choices, while myfitnesspal just keeps track of your entries for food and exercise and tells you if you're meeting your goal. Maybe look at both but if you're unfamiliar with healthy eating and exercising maybe try noom. (I haven't tried it yet, myfitnesspal works for me but I got a pretty good understanding of healthy eating I just use the app to keep track of calorie goals)
