Can anyone tell me the best way to start treadmill training? Im older 63. Need to lose 50 pounds. Im pretty healthy.  Thanks. Bill

If you are generally healthy, I'd start with the manual or level setting on your treadmill and increase your speed to a comfortable fast paced walk. Monitor your heart rate and go as long as you can without your heart going above your target range, or as your time permits. A good rule of thumb for your target heart rate range is to take 220- your age = x X times .65= y X times .80 = z Monitor and try to keep your heart rate in that range of y to z. Do not go above your z value....

Ty. I just started doing a mile a day. Never gave the heart rate any thought. Thanks.
