Belly exercises for people with back problems?

Hi All,
I have always had a very toned, flat stomach but in the last two years I've had a lot of back problem I.e slip disk and as a result have not been able to train. It's better now but I have been told not to do sit ups. What other excersises are effective in toning my belly without putting pressure on my back?

Yeah leg rasies and airbike are supposed to best for abs...I can do both with chronic lower back pain until I feel the twinge a different pain than achy muscles...and thats me done!
