DASH Diet

I am pre hyper-tensive and have heard great things about the DASH diet. I work out 3 to 4 times a week and would like to now focus on a diet to help calm the blood pressure. Anyone have any good cookbooks or website suggestions that they have tried? Thanks

use your regular cookbooks. just omit the salt, when the recipe calls for salt. except when using Tomatoes, add half the salt required. yeast bread recipes you need the salt to make the bread. soda breads have salt in the soda & baking powder so you want need salt for the recipe to turn out. It will take some getting used to but it works.

throw your salt shaker away. dont let it tempt you. soda pop is also loaded in salt. so are energy drinks and many protien bars. good luck to you.

Tbh I would ask a Registered Dietitian to help build a floodplan. It could really benefit you!

Thanks for the suggestions, I have been thinking about calling a dietician. Also bread is a weakness for me. So makes sense about the salt. A dietician could help me see these things from my good diary. Thanks

Haha. Do you have any type of foods you react bad to?

Any type of grains? Dairy product? Or sensitive to spiking of insuline?

I have not noticed any but I do know today after this I did not use bread at breakfast and I needed to snack faster. May be a transitioning thing. My snack was yogurt and granla. I feel satisfied. Chocolate makes me breakout. Meat is heavy after lunch but coffee picks me up.
