Hey all,

What are some suggestions for snacks to eat in between meals that aren't just empty calories and good for post-workouts ? ( Ones that are lactose free and peanut/nut free )

These days I go for simple: baby carrots. I can buy them in a bag ready to eat. Ready to take on the go, and if I'm at home I pull out the big tub of hummus for dipping. I'm getting kind of tired of them actually, they're great for munching but not so great for a quick fix, since they're so much work to chew, so I may go back to boiling a whole carrot until it's slightly soft, cutting it up and taking it with me in a container.

Slightly more prep work are my celery spears, which require the bare minimum of washing and cutting.
Bananas, apples...

I always carry a few different packaged options, but unless you have money to burn these are just for "emergencies"... Like Clif Bars for carb energy, or Quest or Mission1 bars for protein.

I also always take a small plastic container of grape nuts with me. They're great for carb energy. Dried figs. My client was sleepy the other day and I gave him one dried fig and he perked right up and had a good workout.

If your goal is weight loss, I would go more for fruits and way more vegetables, and protein, rather than much more grains.  Grains are pretty good for sustained energy, though.
