Getting Ready for track tips?

I am getting ready for track season and I don't know what to work out. Just my legs? Or everything? My friends don't think I am cut out for track so I want to be ready to leave them in the dust when March comes around.

What events do you hope to do. Run(sprints or distance) Hurdles, jumps(high, long or triple) Or throw(shot, disc, jav) Based on your events will depend on your training. Legs and core will be a big part regardless of the event but how you train them may vary.

So then focus on your core and legs. Functional strength for the legs( squats, lunges, dead lifts, power cleans) get the proper form down before you add weights. For speed do interval sprints and plyometrics for explosive power. Run at longer distances(25-50 yards) than you will for the competition for stamina.

Work on your core and start jogging for like an hour a day
