What exercises are good for chronic pain and the flare ups

I also deal with chronic pain and flare ups but have noticed in the two weeks that I've started working out, that it is actually helping my fibromyalgia, not hurting it, as I had always thought. Just go for the casual workouts and take your time. Supposedly the more muscle you have (the more in-shape you are) the less pain you deal with. Hope that helps a little, have a great day!

I have RA, so can obviously relate! Two things I'd add are. First, never do anything that hurts (which is why I don't take classes; either they "tempt" me to push in ways that are painful or, if I'm smart enough to sit out or modify any exercise I know to be unwise I wonder why I'm even there!). Second, go to a really qualified, highly trained physical therapist who is committed to ongoing training--and eager to see all notes and test results from your relevant medical providers.
