Is there any exercises besides pull ups that can make pull ups more manageable...

A pt told me lat pull down can help improve pull ups. (Not i can even imagine doing one myself!) But im getting better and have increased my weight and he said soon i'd be able to manage a pull up.....try it!

Lat pull downs. Also try just hanging on the bar for 30-60 seconds for as many times as you want. It stretches the muscle fibers in your lats and allows more blood flow. You can get on youtube for more ideas as well.

Decline pull ups.
Start elevated on a box or such in the up position of the pullup.  Then take the weight off your feet and slowly lower into the down position.  Get on your box again and repeat

Decline push ups . Hand stand pushups against a wall and verryyyyy wide stance pushups on a floor

Using a low bar where your feet can rest on the ground - Google "inverted row"

I had to do a lot in the marine corps for pt. the best ways to increase your reps are lat pull downs, inverted rows, different variations, and doing a lot of small sets. (Say if you can do ten in a row, do like five sets of five) hope this helps! I can bang out 50 in a set using these methods
