So I lift obviously but every time I lift a heavy amount my chest hurts the next day and I want to still lift but I'm scared to try. My dad lifted weights on a team in high school and he told me not to do to much cause I don't want to hurt the muscles. Any suggestions?

Wait what? You are lifting and getting sore muscles because of this the next day? So where is the problem again?
