So I lift obviously but every time I lift a heavy amount my chest hurts the next day and I want to still lift but I'm scared to try. My dad lifted weights on a team in high school and he told me not to do to much cause I don't want to hurt the muscles. Any suggestions?

When you work out certain muscles, the next day give the muscles time to relax. Work on other muscles the next day

Wait what? You are lifting and getting sore muscles because of this the next day? So where is the problem again?

Sore muscle aren't a bad thing I didn't think. Add some stretching before and after workouts and you should be fine
