Downward dog, the crow, and the lunge all give great flexibility.... There are beginner, intermediate, and advanced stages so start light and work your way up.

Hi Sunny, Glad to hear that you love yoga. Consistency is key. Try to establish a regular routine. Our muscles contract every day and loose their natural elasticity as we age. Breathe deeply to relax the muscles when you practice.

At least for me,  it was figuring out and focusing in on the problem zone. Stinking hamstrings. Remember, as long as you're using proper form and technique, you can stretch every day. Just don't let anybody bamboozle you into thinking that long-term static stretches are going to increase your flexibility. I think it's anything above 20 or 30 seconds you've stopped stretching the muscle and started to have an impact on your tendons. It's why Yoga classes are awesome, a good instructor mixes up static and dynamic stretches. Ask your instructor to help you figure out where you're tight and incorporate some stretches into your daily routine.

Stick with simple stretches. You will get there. Where specifically are you needing to improve?
