Ive been going to the gym alot and I've noticed a lot of girls in yoga pants and/or spandex. Now I personally dont have a problem with it I tend to focus on lifting than girls "ass"ets but a lot of guys have said its becoming a problem, too many guys are trying to flirt or stare rather than work out, they focus on the girls too much. So ladies, how do you feel about this? Im interested to see both sides

27 Jun
I'd rather see girls in yoga pants than the short skimpy shorts where their cheeks are hanging out, that to me is distracting to everyone. I'm lucky to workout and work at the local YMCA and we don't have to many issues with clothing, but there are a few ladies who like to show way too much, and to me they aren't there to workout..
27 Jun
True, ive seen that too, which is inappropriate and takes away from exercising, i mean idk but if the shorts are short enough to show cheek what else are you trying to show? Ya know. But too tight of pants to where the form of your butt is all guys see can be problematic but yes id rather girls wear pants, than skimpy shorts and revealing shirts
27 Jun
I wear what I please to the gym if I feel like wearinn spandex shorts and a sports bra then I'm going to.... if you can't concentrate on your work out then you're not dedicated enough in the first place
27 Jun
Too true, if only guys realized it
27 Jun
I feel bad for the guys then but for me their just comfortable to move around in

I believe that all women should dress modestly. Spandex and yoga pants are not a very good choice unless she is wearing a long, loose shirt. Women should not be focusing on attracting all that attention; it really isn't necessary. You go to the gym to work out, not to find a boyfriend/girlfriend. I do not blame the men at all; it is their natural chemistry that makes them attracted to women. We women should be the ones to try to dress modestly and not to distract the men in an impure way.

I love the comment.....kudos
27 Jun
I wear them, I have no care at all to find a man. Period.

That's ridiculous. Yoga pants were made to work out in. Why should we dress differently because some men can't focus on their wprkout? It's a gym. What do you expect people to be wearing? It's like saying that women shouldn't wear swimwear at the beach.

Totally agree with Melissa...

I wear exercise tennis skirts with spandex underneath, yoga pants with loose, long shirts, exercise shorts with spandex underneath, or loose sweat pants. There are many options.

i see no reason to feel as if you have to dress like you rolled out of bed at the gym. these ladies are working hard for their bodies, and some of them just want to show their progress. but also, my gym is hot and i just cant imagine wearing heavy sweat pants in that muggy building. if guys get distracted by something like yoga pants, are THEY really there to work out?

27 Jun
Im not saying all girls are seeking attention in the wrong way. I admire a fit woman thats comfortable to flaunt what shes worked to get. But yes, if your a guy and you keep staring or get distracted by women in the gym....you need to reevaluate your intentions

Side topic: same goes with shirts, some girls show alot of stomach, bra, skin in general, im all for less restrictions when working out but theres a point when you're trying to gain attention

I see no reason not to wear yoga pants... What other options are there... Sweat pants I'm not going to burn up and be miserable so guys can work out un distracted... Maybe they should focus on their priority... Unless I'm outside running yoga pants is my "go to" workout clothes. If anything wouldn't it be motivation..not a distraction? Seeing nice, or fit guys or girls for that matter motivates me to push harder. :)

27 Jun
Great point!:)
27 Jun
Motivates me, I do go harder when theirs and attractive female in the area. I think both sexes check out the opposite...good stuff to me.

I like wearing yoga pants to the gym and when running. It's just more comfortable, with loose fitting pants it's rubs against my inner thigh and it burns after a while and also if your clothing is to big or baggy I have a fear of it getting caught in a machine or tripping over it. I wear larger shirts but that's so I can wipe the sweat off. I realize that I have a huge behind but I'm not going to change my clothing just because a guy find it distracting. Do guys think it's ok to run around with no shirt on like that's not distracting
27 Jun
Good point, im not telling anyone to change what they wear but im interested on opinions, like i said i could care less what people wear as long as they are there for the right reasons
27 Jun
That's understandable
27 Jun
Any guy without a shirt on in a gym. Deserves to get slappen. Seriously...
27 Jun
I agree keep ur shirt on... At least while ur using the equipment.. I don't want u use anything u are sweating all over! After ur finished using the machines..that's another story!

Great points girls! Jen D. Made a excellent point, if you feel distracted by girls wearing yoga pants or whatever they choose, flip it into motivation!

Girls usually dont dare to come close to the weight part of a gym anyway. So i dont see to many come by

I find the people who come to the gym to socialise alot more distracting. No matter how they are dressed.

And hot woman in the gym = testosteron = gainz. So girls more sexy clothes haha

27 Jun
I go to the weight section
27 Jun
Good choice
27 Jun
I spend a lot of time in weights

I think if you're working out you should just wear something comfortable. Don't get me wrong you shouldn't be trying to get attention but feel good about what ur wearing (=

Just one side note. Dress however you want if its still decent. But then never complain about dudes staring. If you are deadlifting in yoga pants there is nothing a guy can do but smile and give it a good look.

27 Jun
Hey girls look too. Eye candy is a good motivator

I wear the tight fitting clothes to keep it out my way. But I don't have time to flirt at the gym and will promptly let a man know. Shoot I don't have time to flirt outside the gym! Lol. Also, I find big arms attractive but I don't let it distract me from what I want. If a dude can't pay attention to his workout, then maybe he doesn't want it enough.

27 Jun
Hello.. My point exactly! Guys doing pull ups is my weakness but i dont get distracted
27 Jun
Haha then its not a weakness at all!

Interesting topic. Thanks for starting this thread. I personally like to wear yoga pants and in summer I do wear shorts but not really short shorts. I agree that a woman shouldn't flaunt everything as males are chemically inclined if u will to be distracted by skin and what have you. In saying that however when working out, who wants to be boiling away under sweat pants and huge t shirts etc. I guess we women should try our best not to show too much and males should try their best to concentrate on their workouts. I will admit when I myself see a women in short shorts and sports bra etc Im a little distracted but it does motivate me to work harder lol

Girls need to learn to lift! It does not make you bulky!

Hehe hell half of the guys who lift dont even manage to get bulky.

Yes they are distracting and really awesome, but if you know how to get around that they are great motivators when at the gym. Lets say your doing some lifting and a hot girl walks near your and bends over to get something. She has a nice bum. If you work harder to show off maybe you'll get a little piece of it.

At the gym that I work out in, all the girls wear that kind of stuff. The only time I really look is during the rest period in between lifts. It's really not up to us to choose what girls wear.they can wear whatever they want, because they worked hard to earn that body... also I'm not complaining when a girl walks by in yoga pants lol.

um well they should suck it up and focus on what they need to do. we wear those clothes cuz they are comfortable and easier to workout in. if they can't check themselves then they need to go home amd workout alone without distractions

I understand guys being distracted by that but come on now it's working out!!!  What are we gonna wear, jeans??  A long skirt??  Parka?? I do think its not fair for girls to try and show off their bodies with the intention of getting attention in a setting that includes guys that could be married or old enough to be their dads or young enough to ...corrupt??  It's not a bar where guys might be going to get girls, it the gym and most guys ARE trying to concentrate.  But let's be fair... Guys can go shirtless if they get hot.  Do you know how much sweat can be in a sports bra??

And, btw, it's nice to not completely feel like a man when you are sweating like one.

I dont know any gym where they let ppl work out shirtless. And i dont think there should be any

I always wear yoga pants, but I make sure they fit me and are not 2 sizes too small! I know they are supposed to be snug and fitted but if your sporting a camel toe please go a size or two up!

If only everyone started working out naked, that way we wouldn't be having this discussion in the first place ;)
J/k, everyone should dress the way they like. If everyone would wear the same clothes (or no clothes), it would simply be boring. Clothes identify a person and make them unique, why would anyone want to interfere with that? Oh right, conservative people, forgot about those

09 Jul
Um... Im conservative but i wear wat i like
09 Jul
I meant conservative like the Amish for example; i.e. people who need to wear certain types of clothes. Same goes for school uniforms. If you choose what you wear, you're progressive in terms of fashion and not conservative
11 Jul
O lol... Eh i agree ... We should just workout naked lol
16 Jul
Working out naked sounds nice. Nice cool breeze from down under haha

I am so confused now. I've always worn gym clothes to the gym. You know the clothes that they sell in the sports clothes/gym clothes section of the store. Workout clothes. Comfortable and supportive for the bust. I've worn "yoga" type pants - you can't really workout with baggy clothes, right? Of course I have always worn respectable gym wear - pretty much the same as everyone else is wearing. I mean when did this become such a huge issue? Are you taking about 'yoga pants' or thin type of 'leggings' ? Leggings belong "Under" your clothes - that's why...
