Help need for healthy ways to gain weight

I am 31 year old, weight 160 pounds. I want to gain weight and build muscle. Am starting to built a belly and I don't want it. I need help from any professional. Thanks.

Well you can gain weight by eating more, ideally from whole healthy foods, a good balance of protein, carbs, fat. Lean meat, vegetables, whole grains, and some healthy fats.

But you have to be doing some resistance training (like weight lifting) so the muscles will use that energy to grow, otherwise it really doesn't matter how healthy you eat, the excess energy will be stored as fat.

My schedule is very busy, but what i am doing is running in the treadmill focusing on cardio 2 to 3 days and the rest i am doing a workout in this app for abdominal. I have an small gym at my apartment. Am I doing OK just by doing what am doing? I also started to eat healthy few weeks ago when I noticed my belly getting big.

Cardio and core is great stuff, but not usually what people would do on a weight gaining regimen. Gaining muscle in the core is good, but usually eating for gains would be associated with weightlifting... Things like squats, deadlifts, bench press, overhead press, pullups, rows... 

If you want to get leaner, drop some fat, eat for a caloric deficit (less), and do cardio, so you lose weight. Then maybe in a couple weeks, start eating more, and lifting weights. You'll hopefully gain muscle. You can repeat this cycle every few weeks, or figure out your own timing for what feels right.

Many people use this basic principle for trying to lose fat and gain muscle.

As you can see in my picture I am skinny, I want to look ripped more than looking big because that would take me so long I am 6 ft tall and for now I would like to look ripped and then I will work on getting bigger. What should I do to get to that? And please can you give me some advice on what proteins to drink or any other stuff out there to help me get to where I want. Thank you very much
