Florida, United States
The Intracoastal waterway (ICW) runs 1,095 miles from Norfolk, Virginia to Miami, Florida. The Fort Lauderdale stretch of the ICW boasts over 165 miles of navigable waterways and canals flanked by over 40,000 boats and luxury homes, not to mention one of the highest concentration of mega-yachts. Suffice to say, there's no shortage of expensive eye-candy on paddles here, but venturing down canals can often lead to unexpected encounters with natural wilderness. Manatee sightings and bird watching are common occurrences and activities.
