About Me

I started out in August 2015 at 238 lbs. I lost a bit over 30 lbs, then had some health issues and some loss of motivation and eventually gained almost all of it back again. Tried keto; stopped. But I'm back on the horse, with a more traditional and sustainable diet and new motivation to succeed! My past does not define my ability to succeed this time; I just have to learn from it and find ways to keep myself on track this time. :) Weight-wise, My short term goal is 210 by the end of 2018, midterm goal is 200 by the end of February, and long-term goal is 180, either by my birthday in June or failing that, by September 2018 which will be the anniversary of my re-commencement of my new healthy life. Activity goals and landmarks- I want to: be active for at least 30 min a day; work out in a structured way at least three times a week; become able to do a full push-up with good form; be able to go up three flights of stairs without losing my breath. I'm 38 and live in Western Canada. My strengths are my brain and my empathy, and my weaknesses are cravings (especially at certain points in my cycle), low self-esteem, anxiety about not feeling like I know what I'm doing, and a tendency towards laziness and losing motivation.

I was a bit ambitious with my dumbbells and by the last of the split squats, whoa Nelly. But a great workout! My thighs will feel it tomorrow.

Overall it was mostly just right, but the plank walks were beyond me.... For now!!! I'm happy with my progress towards the pushup, though. :)

So amusing how the voice gives little encouragements during the rest breaks... Final rest period and 30 sec in the voice says 'give it all you got!' lol! 😃

Can't do a pushup yet so subbed wall pushups. The lack of directions for the lunge with rotation is unfortunate; I was rotating in the wrong direction for the first two sets before I realized. But otherwise a very attainable short workout.

For the pushups, you can do knee pushups and if still difficult, start from the plank position and try to go down slowly. Go back in plank position helping yourself with legs, and again. Your upper body muscles will work and finally with practice you will be able to do pushups 💪🏻

Thanks Luca! Unfortunately I'm still a days away from even knee pushups, but I'm working on it! I'll get there. :) being able to do a full proper pushup is actually one of my specific milestone goals so advice like this helps!

I felt a little awkward doing this at the gym. The transitions are so fast that I felt I didn't have time to learn to do one thing with proper form before it was on to the next. However this is my challenge then to plan ahead and preview the workouts and try the exercises, determine any necessary substitutions etc. before starting. I'm sweating more than I expected!

Hey Susan, well done. I usually look at the workout before doing it, and if there are exercises that I don’t know very well, then I analyze them carefully looking the video and trying them first. It is very important that you do every single movement as accurate as possible, even if you need to do just one repetition during all the exercise. You will see your progress with time 👍🏻💪🏻

Thanks Luca, I appreciate the encouragement! :) :) This was my first Skimble workout for a long time and I had forgotten how to work the app to preview the workout and navigate through it. After this learning experience I'm definitely doing more previewing and testing. :)

You are welcome ! but your goal is 3 days of training per week... I dont see it... 😜 No excuses except if you are sick! 😉

Lesson learned, definitely need to use a mat. Made the mistake of trying to do it on carpet, and it made a difference, my feet kept trying to slide away

Finally took the plunge and signed up for a gym! It's girls only, small and not horribly busy, and it looks like it should be a good fit. Ironically I didn't get to actually work out, as I had to run and pick up my sister, but I didn't want to procrastinate taking that first step any longer! Now I've made a commitment and I know my next steps. :)

1:13. I think I could have done a little bit better if I'd paid more attention setting up; my toes were off the end of the mast and kept sliding on the carpet which messed with my stability.
