Help / Doing something wrong?

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I would consider looking for a beginner workout on bodybuilding.com

At least until you get into a routine and better understand how your body reacts. From there you can create your own routine to better fit your needs or you can continue to find new routines through the website. I've heard it is a good idea to switch up your routine every 4-6 weeks. If your looking to build muscle lift heavy with low reps. Looking to tone lift light with high reps. Make sure you throw in cardio for toning. Less cardio if your looking to build. Healthy eating always a must. All of this seems overwhelming but if you slowly work into it, it becomes habit. A little patience and a lot of dedication ;-)

You'll do great!!

Help / Doing something wrong?

What are your goals exactly? What is your routine if you don't mind me asking

18 Oct
Well that's the thing I don't really know how to organize my routine. I would just switch off bt I'm working on abs, legs, arms, thighs, & butt. Bt I think I've been working out my abs more than anything.

Welcome Wagon / Winter

The cold weather is creeping in. The holidays are here. Approaching are the toughest months to stay in shape. Who is ready? Does your routine change up with the seasons? How do you keep yourself going through the cold and holiday meals? Good luck all, never quit. Never give up an inch!

Hm for me it'a better to train.. when the weater is so hot I don't like to train. And the food hmm work on it.. ;-))
17 Oct
Well then your excited for this time of year. This is where you excel when others slow down! More power to you. I am the opposite myself, I love it when it's hot! I will be outside working out when everybody is indoors trying to escape the heat!

Working outside is fine yea.. will miss that in the winter!

Welcome Wagon / Motivate me! ;)

I am having the same issue myself. Between school and 2 jobs, my motivation is gone by days end. I am at the point now where I only workout Saturday and Sunday. Not getting the results I want. Does anybody else live a hectic lifestyle and still find the motivation to keep going throughout the week?

Motivation & Support / Does working out give you more confidence?

It is up and down for me. I am not where I want to be yet, but I have made great strides and I look the best I have in I'd say 4 years?! I am losing fat, building muscle and the more progress I make the better I feel and the more confident I become.

Workouts and Programs / Best at home cardio exercise?

HIIT, bike, power walking, hiking, swimming. The key is to mix it up and keep it interesting.
20 Sep
Good luck in meeting your goal and congratulations on quitting. I've been smoke free for over 6 years now!
20 Sep
My dream home has all that :) lol but thank you, I was just looking for more home based activities. It gets cold here in Canada lol
20 Sep
High intensity workouts will give you a bit of everything. Shadow boxing helped me build my cardio up. Go hard, go fast. Jump rope and/or jumping jacks as well.
20 Sep
Thanks Ryan and btw congratulations on being smoke free :)

Thank you. It wasn't easy but it was worth it. Hope these suggestions at least guide you in the direction you want. Once you figure out what you like and what works best for you, you'll be able to start building your own routine for the specific results your looking for.

Workouts and Programs / Love handles

Patrick makes a very good point. It is the little things here and there in people's diets that they don't really pay much attention to. They can sneak up on you and even though you live an active life style you still may end up with excess calories/sugar/fat intake. Instead of double sessions of cardio maybe go harder than your used to, unless you have enough time in the day to fit in two sessions. I attempted double sessions and lasted about two weeks. Life happened to get in the way a lot.

Workouts and Programs / Love handles

Unfortunately you can't target it. Healthy eating and cardio. Mix up your cardio. Long runs, sprints, trail runs, biking, hiking, power walking, HIIT, etc....good luck! Hope this helps.

Motivation & Support / Hamstrings

It could very well be the combination of both. I haven't been lifting for very long. I feel it is more my form than anything though. I watch the videos and try to mimic them, but without anybody here to compare I feel as though I am still doing it wrong. The only thing I can think of is to start with low weight, high reps until my body becomes used to it. I am anxious though, I don't enjoy lifting light....makes me feel weak haha. Thank you for the advice, I will throw in some lunges as well.
04 Sep
Well if you don't have anybody that knows a bit about fitness to watch it can be hard. But yeah try with low weight until you feel you got the form right. Not much else to do.

Motivation & Support / Hamstrings

I feel these are the hardest to work without machines. I do not own any machines nor do I have the extra time/money for the gym. I've got some weights at home and I've tried goodmorning, clean deadlift and barbell clean. No matter how hard I try to focus on my form, I feel it in my back more than anything. Any tips or alternate exercises would be greatly appreciated. I've downloaded fitness buddy app and I spend a lot of time on bodybuilding.com watching videos. I still feel as if I'm not getting the form correct.
04 Sep
Well your exercises seems fine. Lunges/jumping lunges is also good. Now as for your back it can be two things either your back is not strong enough or your ppsition is wrong. Remember feets straight forward with shoulder with apart and a straight back. If you have a hard time keeping you back straight try to put your chest out amd your lower back fowatd/butt back like in a squat. Hope this helps:-)

Motivation & Support / Results!

Although the outcome and circumstances aren't exactly what you wished for, you have to believe it was for the better. You haven't had enough time to build anything solid with him, so it is much better that you found out what type of guy he is sooner rather than later. Forget him and move on, do not allow him to hurt you, do not allow him to get the best of you. You are an attractive woman, he will realize what he gave up when it is far too late! Nobody in this world will ever care for you the way you should care for yourself, take care of yourself and protect yourself and be selective on who you let in. View this as another bump in the road, one more mr. Wrong crossed off the list on your way to mr. Right!

Hodge-Podge / Sexy people!!!

I am more interested in being comfortable in my own skin again, I have never considered myself sexy and im okay with that!!
01 Sep
Yeah, but that is what being sexy is all about! Feeling good about yourself, feeling secure, being comfortable with your looks and what it feels like to be you.
02 Sep
This is very true. I've just never labeled myself sexy or anything. When comfortable in my own skin, my confidence is through the roof though. Maybe it is because I have never been complimented in such a way or maybe it was just my the way I was brought up.
02 Sep
Just like I said: you're sexy and you know it. You just don't need to be told to know. :D
02 Sep
Ryan everything u commented was like SPOT ON 😊

Women's Locker Room / Going the army

I have been military for about 6 years now. To be honest, any type of fitness/exercise will help improve your performance. Doing something is better than doing nothing. But as previously mentioned, if you want to improve specific events or areas in your fitness that would be more military based. Look into army PT (running, rucking, muscle failure, combatives, practice PT tests, circuit training), cardio is key!! Make sure you get plenty of it. Good luck

Motivation & Support / Army pt.

To improve mine I focused mainly on the events that took place during the APFT. I would do weighted sit ups and weighted or deep push ups, throw in some bench work and for running I would have 1 long run, 1 two mile run and a few sessions of sprints thrown in there through the week, every week. Every week make it alittle more intense by adding alittle more weight and alittle more time/speed to your runs. Adjust workouts as needed.
