Feedback / Workout Trainer App

I love this app, been working out with it for over a year and it keeps me motivated! There's only one improvement I would like to see is a way to organize the workouts that I liked. At the moment it takes me a fairly long time to find a workout I liked some time ago. If there was a possibility to create folders and add the workouts to certain folders, it would be awesome!

Hi Shew, we are actually working on this so stay tuned!

Motivation & Support / What did working out change in your life?

There are several positive elements. The most obvious are the changes you see: weight loss, less fat, more definition, stronger, better shape in general...the usual you get from working out.

I've started working out 13 months ago and I've lost 9kg but most importantly it has helped me to stay sane. I've been in Baghdad for 15 months and because of all the security restrictions, when I'm not working on the field, I'm stuck in between four walls. If it wasn't for the workout i would have gone crazy by now. After a tough day sweating it out in our very modest gym makes me feel better. Or early in the morning before an office day it gives me the energy to take on the day. I would honestly not have been able to remain here if it wasn't for the workouts.

Finally last positive point, 3 months after starting my workouts routine i had a pretty serious hiking accident while on R&R in Oman: i fell from 8 metres in a canyon. Despite being pretty broken the damages were quite limited considering what i had been through and my doctors told me it was also because i was in good physical condition and muscles acted as a protection for my bones. Also my recovery was quite fast because as soon as i could (roughly 2 weeks after the accident) i started working out again even if it was with very easy workouts but still, it allowed me to get better faster.

So really on my side i have no negative point. Except maybe that it has become a bit of an addiction and if i don't workout/have physical activity for a few days i really feel like i need it! ;)

Motivation & Support / Which weight for your dumbells?

Hello Skimble buddies!
My current goal is to tone my arms some more and to lose some small yet stubborn pockets of fat in my upper arms. I'm have a healthy weight for my height (totally normal BMI) but i just seem not to be able to lose it. I decided to do more weight workouts for my arms but i was wondering how much weight should i use? How do you choose the appropriate weight so it's the most efficient, in order not to exhaust yourself but still getting a good workout? I'm a woman and my goal is really not to get bigger arms but really to slim and tone them.

Also in order to get rid of these "wings" or "flabby arms" or however you want to call it what type of exercises (on top of weight exercises) would you recommend?

Thanks in advance skimblers!

Little fat depots and toning requires more burning - weights can help in definition, but to really make it visible you need to get the stupid fat vanish. Try to add more cardio and increase working on your biggest muscles (legs and bum) to burn it in no time!

Motivation & Support / WHICH 'MORPH' ARE YOU??

Hey! Do these categories apply equally to men and women? I wouldn't know honestly which category I would fall into...

06 Feb
Of course they apply to both men and women, Shew :) There's a lot of info on this argument: type it in Google and you'll find an on line test too ^^

Looking at your photos I'd guess you were a Mesomorph mostly Shew coz of the definition in your shoulders

Welcome Wagon / Sports bras

In my opinion yes. As soon as you do workout with a lot of movement and faster movement it will be easy more comfortable. If you do only stretching or yoga workouts it might not be that useful but in general i would say!!

Motivation & Support / Crisis in confidence.

There are always ups and downs along the way, life is indeed a roller-coaster ride. Sometimes it's also Ok to cut yourself some slack for a couple of days to come back in full force. You can try to change the schedule of your workout or try some new things you had not tried before. I'm confident that you will overcome any of these little crisis coming your way :)

Welcome Wagon / Is this worth the buck? ??

Hi! I have the Pro+ subscription and I think it is really worth it. I've been using it since July and I'm still motivated which usually doesn't happen with me and a gym subscription. So in my opinion it is totally worth it :)

Workouts and Programs / Anyone else doing multiple programs at the same time?

I'm doing 3 of them at the same time, some days i reschedule a workout if i feel i need to. If you feel tired than maybe you should do that as well! It's all about how you feel and how your body is reacting!

Sports Injuries & Prevention / Weak Ankle after injury

I sprained my ankle end of September. I did a lot of sessions at the osteopathic doctor and it really help to regain mobility even though I'm still not 100%. When it comes to running i got some gel soles to put in my running shoes to help absorb the shocks which works wonder. Otherwise i did a lot of exercises to strengthen it.  Like stand on one foot and get on the tip of your toes, repeat it as much as you can and do it on both side. Also with a step or a big book, do the same exercice leaving your heel out of the step/book and don't only get on your toes tip but also go lower than top of the step/book with your heel. I don't know you understandable my description is, i hope it's clear! What's important is to do these simple exercises every day and very importantly do rounds on both leg.  When you'll feel that your injured ankle managed to do these as easily as your strong ankle it will mean that you will have rebuilt your muscles! At least it worked for me :)

Motivation & Support / How working out helped me get limited damages after serious accident

Hey everybody! I know many of us think about working out for slimming/beauty purposes but I just wanted to share a little personal story with you regarding health benefits : 4 weeks ago I had a serious accident while hiking and made an 8 metres fall into a canyon. Despite the pain, bruises and abrasions all over my body I got away with very little damages: a sprained ankle and a crack (not even a fracture) in my sacrum. My doctors agreed that one of the elements that limited the damages was good muscles which acted as a protection during the accident and is currently helping me recuperating quite fast.

This really served me as a good motivator to keep working out regularly. And even though we all tend to focus on weight loss and looks let's not forget the health benefits of our workouts :)

Workout Program: Slim & Trim Bootcamp / Waist slimming exercises??

You can do all the abs exercise that involved crossed movements (trying to raise your left elbow towards your right knee or such). Also especially good to feel your waist burning are side plank dips!
