Suggestions & Ideas / Buried treasure in the forum

Why not let them post? I don't think of Skimble as a place for hardcore gym goers, most have no idea what they are doing. They probably want an answer from a real person about their personal goals, while maybe making a workout buddy. I see no problems here.

Jason, mine is a personal opinion. Who's stopping them? They're big boys and girl. They can read a post and take or leave it. Only one thing I'd like to clear up. It's got nothing to do with wanting this forum for the more experienced among us. Just like you replied to this post (made days ago) and I replied back, the same would happen if they used existing posts. In fact, they may even be able to see previous replies from people that could actually help them. A lot of good posts with the answers to their questions may...

I hear you. But as a community, I'm sure some people just want to be heard, or meet some people with the same interests or goals. Yeah they are repetitive, yeah it makes up about 90 percent of the boards, but I know I would probably like to be heard as well if I was in their shoes.

I get what your saying too. ^^ My thing is that they could actually be missing out on so much information. Good information. In the end though, it's their choice. Good thing about this app? We all find our own path.

Motivation & Support / LET'S TALK PROTEIN SHAKES

Good advise. However, I love my protein shakes and will defend their honor! You are so correct, but I think protein supplements get a bad rap. I always say, schedule protein supplements around your meals... don't use them as a  replacement meal. Protein is such an essential macro, it can help you reach your goal no matter what it is. Also, protein helps you feel more satiated, so it can help cut down on the amount an individual eats. Plus, I poop better when I drink whey. Just watch the sugar content.

I don't think anyone is anti-protein shakes, It's as you say bad rep -Most people don't need that amount of protein even with general fitness, some people with liver problems shouldn't even think of taking it...It's marketers fault for rebranding it as a miracle weight loss supplement. But for building muscle mass it has benefits! The problem is most studies are conducted by marketers which will always show what they want rather than unbiased information and the biased studies become wide spread.

Stress & Relaxation / Good motherf***ing morning

So here I am, taking my morning poo, and would just like to share that morning workouts are the shiz. In all of my 30 years, I have never done one morning workout, and I finally did today I have to say that I have not had a high like this since I did coke off this prostitutes butt on the top of Mt. Everest. Simply put, I want to drop kick this day in the face. Once I finish this poo, I'm going to pull my pants up, wash my hands for at least 45 seconds (or to one round of the birthday song) to make sure I kill 99.99% of those bacterias, then go to work and kick ass. No longer will I do late night workouts that keep me up late and make me exhausted in the morning. The night time is no longer the right time, go AM. That is all. Xxxooo Jason

Workouts and Programs / Free weights vs weight machines

I tend to think of it the other way around. For a beginner, you need to condition the body with the right posture and correct range of motion. You are restricted to a certain movement for machines, and the average Joe does not know the proper height to put the seat and adjust everything else, etc. He may find himself doing the exercise in a horrible form, only causing injuries later down the line. I say learn proper form with freeweights, use machines when you learn the mechanics of your body later down the road.

Yeh true. I always watch vids first of how to use the weight machines and my body posture so i dont look like an idiot lol

Weight Loss / Protein shakes

Drink...the...damn...shakes. Anybody that tells you otherwise has no idea what they are talking about. Drink your shakes around your already balanced diet to achieve desired protein intake (which is important for any goal). Don't use it as a primary source of nutrition, supplement your diet with them.

Welcome Wagon / Channel anger into energy while lifting weights

Always. Going back to your hater post, I try to find something I hate about the guy in front of me... something like the fact that he didn't re-rack his weights, he smells bad, he is sitting on the bench texting for 5 mins, his shorts look stupid etc... Totally works. I'm able to channel that hateraide to knock out the last few reps. Good post, man.

P.s. I'm grumpy about 90% of my workout

Weight Loss / How important is it to join a gym?

Very, depending on your goals. Your body is made to adapt to the stimuli you place on it during workouts. To keep you from hitting a plateau, the gym offers various stimuli to keep the body working.

Welcome Wagon / Weed & exercise.

I don't think it can help your workout in any way, shape, or form. Nor can it help you reach your fitness goals

23 Jan
I agree. Veronica, smoking will cause major harm to your lungs which will make breathing while working out harder in the future, and even just breathing on a regular basis. I would not recommend it, but this is just my opinion as a fitness trainer.
23 Jan
Yep. I'm not against smoking it at all, but it's when people say it helps them reach their goals... well, I always say produce the research and I'll agree. And if you need or use something to get by or reach a certain goal, that just sounds like chemical dependency to me

Diet & Nutrition / Coffee

Coffee is awesome and everyone should drink a cup a day. Black, of course. Don't add sugar, creamer and all that crap. It's full of antioxidants to fight off illness, caffeine to boost metabolism, and protects your liver. Go drink a cup now

Women's Locker Room / My full body workout for building muscke

Great stuff, buddy. However, you really need to add back exercises. People often neglect the muscles that they can't see in the mirror, which will lead to detrimental muscle imbalances further down the road. I would add a good pulling exercise that utilizes the back and biceps before your isolated biceps exercise. I would recommend a bent over reverse grip barbell row. Also, add an overhead press of some sort to hit the middle and front shoulder head

My lower back is hurting so did I hurt my self or is it because that its the first time I did stiff leg deadlifts

Workouts and Programs / Anybody trainer certified?

I'm looking to network with other individuals who are certified personal trainers. I'd like to chat about various training models and toss a few ideas back and forth. I'm certified through NASM, and have relied on their OPT model to train numerous clients successfully, but I am curious about other models.

Welcome Wagon / Skinny but weak

Your new workout journey can be broken down into 3 tiers: Stabilization, strength, and power.

New people to the gym often neglect the first tier, jumping into heavy weights before their body is conditioned for such tasks. During the stabilization phase, you condition your body, using light weights, proper range of motion and tempo. This phase should last about a month. If workouts seem easy, do not add more weight. Challenge your body in new and different ways, such as using one arm dumbell exercises, or placing the body in unstable conditions which forces the body to recruit more of the core, thus stabilizing. Rep range should be anywhere from 12 to 20. The strength tier focuses on heavier weights, less reps, and hypotrophy. The power tier is not necessary for most people, usually competitive athletes. This tier focuses on heavy weights, and moving a specified weight from one area to another as fast as possible. This is a progressive model, and it fits everyone. Straight up science based methods out of the NASM textbooks.

Motivation & Support / DAZED & CONFUSED

Literally, though man...I have started at least 2 topics prompting deep conversation about health and fitness (imagine that!) Nobody commented. It's like everyone is only worried about how to do biceps exercises, workout the abs, or find a workout partner. Those are the real hot topics. I used to read these topics only when I was taking a poo, but I think angry birds seems like a better way to pass the time.

Motivation & Support / DAZED & CONFUSED

Unfortunately, I believe that's how this message board always was. Rarely did I ever see a topic really worth checking out. I understand this being a support community and what not, but there is absolutely nothing for others looking for health info. I see people giving out advise with no empirical evidence backing it, and about half the shit people say are rediculous anyways. Rant not over!

I've eaten now and have calmed down.. At least I didn't start ranting about the 'water fasters'!!

Weight Loss / Herbalife - want to do it with me?

It sounded like you were sincere, up until I heard the part about you being a distributer. It's a big gray area in between what people actually need, and making a profit. Take everything with a grain of salt and do your research when working with an individual working for commission. My two cents. Up up and awayyyyy
