Sports Injuries & Prevention / Working out a pulled muscle

Generally, just stretch right?
I've had a severely pulled groin muscle in my right leg since I was 6 months pregnant with my son, so about a year ago now. It lingers like a stage 5 clinger ex boyfriend and as of late is been bad, especially when I'm getting up off the floor. I don't want to over stretch it because it seems to be doing me no justice! I used to do ice and heat but it never fully went away...
Should I keep stretching and work out as if it isn't there?

Diet & Nutrition / Im baaack...Gaining healthy weight naturally?

I have been off this app for a long time (lost my phone and got sick).

Since having my baby 7 months ago, I have been back to my normal 108-110lbs and I have a difficult time moving the needle on the scale! I have a weight gainer but I don't use it. I want to gain healthy weight naturally (and I know I can do that by building my muscles) but how many calories should I eat and burn, and what do I need to load up on besides the protein?

Hey, you have amazing abs & Core region. Please tell me how did u achieve them,I have flat tummy but there is a little bit of chubby ness left to it, I want to achieve what you have l. Can u tell me your work outs , plus I do home gym without equipments , HELP ME PLEASE
28 Dec
Unfortunately I can't help much but say I was blessed with a quick metabolism and good genes lol. I do a lot of dance, engage my core throughout the entire day, and switch up my core workouts with weights all the time so my body doesn't get too used to one excersize. Cardio and diet are always key for belly fat. As much as Id like to talk about my stomach, I would rather have my questions answered first haha
28 Dec
Hahaha but whatever you say, you inspired me now I will work my self more hard. THANKS :)

Brown carbs. Id say you can hace 1800 calories if you're working out 3-5 days week. Less than that is 1500. Eat rice but not too much. Meat. Veggies. Brown carbs should help. Movement is life, so fuel your body properly and the muscle will come.

Pregnancy & Fit Moms / Post pregnancy workouts?

Focus mostly on cardio and diet first. My baby is 4mths now, I started working out at my 6wk mark but was focusing mostly on my tummy without considering the fact that our uterus takes months to shrink back down. So to shed fat, sweat hard and eat clean-whole foods, meals full of protein, fruit smoothies with no added sugar...
Otherwise, oblique and core excersizes like V ups and V sits, leg lifts, scissors, full sit ups, supermans, etc. For butt try glute kickbacks, plank with leg lifts, lunges and of course, squats.

Motivation & Support / Noob/workoutbuddies/motivation :'(

I cant tell u the number of times I have tried to involve fitness and excercise into my daily routine and failed. Tried everything. After I had my baby (3 months ago) I was so ready to workout and get my body back and these smart phones have everything now so I found this app. This works so well for me because it is timed and instructional so I have a hard time giving up; rather, I feel awesome after competing a workout. I have been working out 5 days a week since july 5th and I feel and look fantastic. On top of that, I started making healthier food choices and can tell this is going to be a new lifestyle for myself. No more forcing myself to excercise-now I look forward to it!
I hope you get the most out of this app and the community and if you need any motivation or help, I'm always open :)

Women's Locker Room / Pregnancy workouts

Lol I like that guys think you can't workout while pregnant...if u were before, you still can but keep your cardio to a min once you hit a certain month-you don't want to increase heart rate or blood pressure too high. yoga is great, avoid lifting and crunches. Stretch a lot but always listen to your body.

28 Aug
Thankyou!! I thought id be able to do something more than just walking :) i'll have a talk to my doctor the next time i see him anyway, and i might try yoga thanks :)

Diet & Nutrition / Cricket Protein Bars

Talk of a new protein bar is hitting the market.
That's right. Crickets.
Protein found in crickets is better for you since it is all natural and not highly processed with chemicals like others such as soy. The company producing these bars explains the insect is "milled into a fine flour that is used in a formulation of almond butter, dates, coconut flour and shredded coconut, raw caco in powder form and nibs for texture, raw honey and sea salt. In total, each bar contains around 25 crickets."
At about $2.80 a bar and a much better/higher content of protein, would you eat it?

27 Aug
Probably would , maybe it would help me be a beter fisherman.

Workouts and Programs / Weighted abs and or Russian twists

If its very hard start a few lbs smaller. I started at 6lbs and increase once I'm used to that weight. Can't tell you how much you should hold, just listen to your body.

Challenges / Flat tummy to abs

Of course its possible. I went from baby fat to abs in 5 weeks. Still improving on them cuz they need more definition tho. I like bicycle crunches, russian twists, anything that focuses on obliques, and if you can get some weights and a 45 degree seat (like at the gym) and do crunches/extensions on those thats a good one too.

22 Aug
5wks???? Wow! Okay I need that motivation! I have been trying for over a year!
22 Aug
Fortunately I was blessed with a fast metabolism but that alone wasnt gonna give me the results I wanted lol. Keep your core right as often as possible and push yourself because the uncomfortable feeling you have during your workout is only temporary.
23 Aug
5weeks is.. wow. Do yo do abs everyday? What about the other parts od ur body?
23 Aug
I focus on abs every other day. I workout mon-fri rotating from abs to upper body to abs to lower body..etc
24 Aug
Do you eat 100% clean? Hw many cheat days?

Motivation & Support / Is exercising good for me?

I was like you. Hell, still am. Made everyone jealous when I was eating my Mcdonalds and taco Bell and junk food and never once made the scale flinch. You're so young and its so easy to think "screw it I'll eat healthy when I start gaining weight" but what you do now will affect your future. Diabetes, stroke and heart disease are definately not worth it! If you keep active your metabolism will stay pretty consistent. Plus. You won't get any thinner, you'll get more tone and look better :)

Weight Loss / If I am not sore I am not working hard enough...

I watch what I eat to help rebuild my muscles, and stretch throughout the day. I rarely get sore anymore but I am seeing progress.
Unfortunately I feel the same way-if I'm not sore I must not be working hard enough. Try increasing weight when lifting, maybe the soreness from that the next morning will boost your confidence ;)

22 Aug
Ps: if you've hit a plateau you definately need to change your routine and add more resistance.
22 Aug
I try to switch my workouts up every 4 to 6 weeks

Welcome Wagon / Crunches

Never anything wrong with working out your abs even if you can't see them. In fact, work them out often! Because when you start eating clean and doing intense cardio and the fat begins to shed, you will see the muscles you worked so hard on ;)
Keep your abs tight with every excersize you do: those muscles are your core strength and without a strong middle you can't do much. Be patient, fast doesn't just fall off and 6 packs don't appear out of thin air. It takes time, hard work and dedication but you will do it :)

Diet & Nutrition / A gallon of water a day

I can't drink enough water for the life of me so I hear you. ..a friend gave me a good tip: Mark on your water bottle (or jug) where you want to be every hour, or label each of your cups/bottles the hour that you should drink them by. Seeing a set goal reminds you to drink!

Welcome Wagon / Football! What's your team and where are you from?

I like to see that people are diverse in their team selections despite where they live. People assume I'm a band wagoner because I live in California but I have stuck by my team thru thick and thin and if I move I'm taking them with me!

Women's Locker Room / Constipation

I believe in natural remedies before taking anything manufactured, but of course that's just me. So i would suggest fluids-a key when taking any sort of medication-and try high fiber foods that are easily digestive like fruit (plums, prunes, etc). Coffee can be helpful as well ;p
Obviously if you've tried everything you could, you can take suppositories but be warned, my friend who had this same problem says it's like a bomb going off lmao

Diet & Nutrition / what's a good protein shake that actually tastes good?

I hate the chalky taste you get from most protein and can only stand about 2-3 sips before giving up on it. What is a good brand at a decent price or what could I mix with it to distract from that awful after taste?

20 Aug
I like the Jillian michaels shake mix. I also have had the EAS Choc...
20 Aug
Rockin refuel milks r pretty good :-)
20 Aug
Try cytossport, they come in many fruit flavors& are ready to drink & not chalky. Isopure makes some good nonnchalky flavors in powder form.
20 Aug
I love the taste of Body by Vi shake, it tastes like cake! www.90daypersonalmastery.com
21 Aug
I had a protein shake the other day that I loved! 8oz egg white (from a carton) 4oz vanilla coconut milk (silk brand) A handful of spinach A handful of blueberries A scoop of glutamine 1 tbsp raw honey 1 frozen banana 1 tsp cinnamon Try it!

Body Building / Switch days?

Don't exhaust your muscles, you'll never see growth! Cardio everyday is ok but as far as weight training, you want days to rest. I workout Monday thru Friday and give myself the weekend to recoop.
M- cardio and core/abs
T- arms/upper body
W- legs and glutes
Th- abs
Fri- arms and upper body
(That's just a guideline for my own Workout routine)
Just remember: rest, protein and hydrate!

19 Aug
How long do you workout abs?
19 Aug
I typically only get 30-40mins to workout everyday so ill do some intense excersizes for 15-30min and stretch for about 5min. I'm addicted to working out my abs tho so throughout the day I keep them contracted and do some extra crunches here and there lol
