Motivation & Support / Crossfit

My friend works at crossfit and I tried a free class today. I like the pressure of the timer and that we all do it as a group. Motivating. Def different than my gym. I like it a lot but I'm stuck here for a year. Lol ah well I can do those workouts here I suppose.

Motivation & Support / Should muscles be sore

I've heard different things on this. Whenever I start working out again my muscles are sore for a while. But now I've been working out for a while consistently and my muscles are a little sore here and there but mostly they are just blahhhh and tired. But my workouts make me sweat and get my heart rate at max for an hour so Idk. Thoughts?

Motivation & Support / OMG calories

So im all about just eating natural and clean and your body willl use the calories for energy if its good calories like veggies or meat and fish. However......i decided to count my calories this morning. I started my day between 430 and 5am. I worked out for 45 min doing circuit training. From the time i woke up til now which is 930 am i have had almost 1000 cal!! Anyone have knowledge of why less calories wouldnt fill me up? Ive had prob 100 grams protein by this time and omg now i know why i havent been losing that last layer of body fat. Well for one area its like 5 layers that are permanently there which i might have to accept. Anyway rant over. If anyone has advice or knowledge on how many calories i should be eating in a day to lose body fat and also how to be full from less calories. The rest ofmy diet besides lean proteins is greens and veggies and occasional whole wheat or grain type carbs

19 May
Try getting a calorie app on your phone, they will help you watch the calories. It goes by what you want.
19 May
Do you do protein shakes??

Motivation & Support / Detox

I would say to just cut out sugar and other processed foods and start there. Bc especially if youre working out you shouldnt do anything too extreme all at once. The liquid diets that are supposed to detox you isnt sufficient nutrients and energy to sustain you throughout the day.

18 May
At least that's what works for me. I know everyone's different.

Thanks. I have try that..:-):-):-)

Motivation & Support / Do we need grains for energy?

My question is in the subject. I have heard different stories. Tried cutting them out for a month and a half was super tired and hard to run and work out. Whats ur opinion. And can u still have low body fat eatting those carbs.

14 May
Healthy grains are great for energy. And they will keep you full for longer. They are not needed but only recommended. Its a lot better than an energy drink. Just do it in moderation and measure how much you're eating of it and you will be fine.
16 May
this is how your body works: carbs-->glucose-->ATP. ATP is what our bodies use for energy. If your body isn't getting enough carbs it will steal from other sources to get glucose (from your muscles for example) The best way to go is to make sure you are eating healthy carbs from whole wheat and not candy. So, yes, grains are important.

Motivation & Support / Protein powder

Ive never done a protein powder before however one of the trainers at my gym suggested trying it. I went out and bought les whey protein vanilla. is this going to bulk me up? Bc i only want to lose body fat not build mass. But its funny bc the one that says lean and toned on the bottle has way more sugar in it and less vitamins. Suggestions welcome

12 May
good job reading the nutritional information on the label. sounds like you made a smart choice. i would say take half of what they recommend on the label and you should b good. it also makes you feel kind of full, so you might not eat as much. lots of cardio work, and you should reach your goals in no time. good luck
12 May
Oh nice. That's what I've been doing is taking half. Ive just heard these make u bigger and bloated and I only want to build muscle to lose fat not to bulk up so I'm weary of them but when I get home from the gym I need something quick sometimes I like having a shake with almond milk and after that ill eat a couple eggs or something else with lean protein.
12 May
that's a lot of protein. i would suggest sm yogurt in your diet, your stomach will appreciate it!
12 May
Ya I used to eat the plain Greek yogurt. but I took it out a month ago bc the trainers at my gym said limit dairy or cut it out completely. The whey powder is made from dairy I think but other than that I don't. Maybe just one yogurt a day is healthy?
12 May
im thinking about the probiotics for your tummy. there's supplements for that too. i usually prefer the natural source for what my body needs.

Motivation & Support / Calories

I recently started strength training 3x a week at the gym. I do it for about 30 min plus ten min warm up on the treadmill. My routine this week is 25lb kettlebells squats push ups into burpees and lunges with rotation holding 10lb ball. Ok so my question is knowing that am i burning way more calories doing things like that than running everyday? Bc i want to make sure i eat enough that i dont sllow my metabolism again .. im working on shedding 5% body fat. And trying to do at lewast 30 min interval running on my off days

09 May
You should be burning plenty of calories depending on how many burpees you are doing....as for shedding the body fat, how often are you eating?

Motivation & Support / Weight fluctuation

What are reasons why over the past few weeks my weight initially dropped 5 lbs from 110 to 105. Then i rapidly have been gaining and im at 113 114 past couple days .... just seems abnormal

05 May
Water weight - particularly normal in girls/women. Especially if you are menstruating or close to it. Very normal.
05 May
No haven't gotten my period in about two months. Not pregnant. Idk why...but could be water weight I guess
05 May
Ya it prob really is. Just seems like a drastic amt of water weight lost.
05 May
Or gained I mean. Lol

Motivation & Support / hungry

Thank u! Yea its like cant overeat or undereat...gotta find that perfect balance. Bleh

05 May
Exactly and it sucks!!! Especially for me because I love to eat but I hate that feeling when you know youve had too much. Its a hassle but for ppl like us, i guess you could say maybe a blessing? We maintain healthy fit bodies while others struggle to change.

Motivation & Support / hungry

Im getting really frustrated. im always hungry. I eat at least eery two hours. Sometimes i need a lotttt of cals to last thru a moderate workout. At least lately this has been a pattern. Does anyone know why or how i can go back to being able to eat just salad and chicken and egg whites all day. I had cut out carbs

03 May
You're burning more energy the more you work out. I have the same problem, I get hungry almost every 2 hours regardless of the size of the meal. Ive noticed that I need to keep healthy snacks handy to not only calm my stomach but also have enoigh energy to get through my workouts. If you get hingry, try eating and apple or a banana or even one of those multigrain bars And hydrate!! Youll notice you have much more energy and your hunger desires will not be as strong. Dont starve yourself, you're metabolism would probably catch up with...
