Fab 40 Somethings / Woman 46.AM I WASTING MY TIME

That's BS! It all depends on you. I'm 44 and although I don't have 6 pack abs I am considerably firmer than I was 5 years ago. Will you have to work harder than a 20 year old? Yes; but it's not unattainable.

Teen Zone / Why do my legs shake after working out?

Oooh. Make sure you drink enough water. Get enough protein and make sure you're not over doing it. You're probably not used to that particular exercise and your body is complaining. Don't give up. Maybe a few pounds lower or less reps until you are accustomed to it, then go back to that weight or rep.

thanks maybe i ahould try and do that i like doing things that are more intense

that is normal :) Although it is true you shouldn't over do, if you are not tired and your legs aren't shaking after your work out, it wasn't very effective. As your legs get used to working out, the shaking will decrease, you will see. Then you will know is time to increase the intensity again

Health Conditions / Postnatal depression and fat burners

You must stop fat blockers. If you are taking anything that affects your metabolism, you are only asking for complications with your meds. It's so amazing how food and exercise are linked to your mood. Each is part of a delicate cycle. Sometimes doing the same thing over can get boring. Try some new exercise activities or add weights. Your body gets used to things quickly a n d the mind gets bored easily. Whatever you do, start off slowly. Keep a log of what you like, what you didn't like and what works for you. Eventually, you will be able to find the right combination of meds, exercise and diet.

Good luck and above all else have fun!! If it isn't fun, you'll eventually stop doing it.  😊

Health Conditions / Mental Health issues

Aww, Kayla. I wish there was a simple answer.

Much like these great people, I have also had Major Depression. Using a buddy system did not work for me because either they were too fast or too slow. I like working at my own pace. I know my limits. I also keep in mind that little steps in the right direction over time still give results. Once I gained strength, I added more. I read a lot of motivational books and I even had to force myself to say 3 great things about myself in the mirror until I finally felt it.Β  Hope you find the right combination of things that work for you!!!

Weight Loss / Self-esteem

It's so easy to be hard on yourself.

It's a choice to sulk or smile. You may not see it that way right now but believe me it is.

Just realizing that you are using food for comfort is a huge steps! Be glad you recognize it and want to take steps to change. The rest is up to you.

Every day is a challenge. We made it through today! Let's see what you can do tomorrow.

Keep at it. Don't give up! πŸ˜„

Welcome Wagon / Depression n workout

I also started working out after my depression. All I can say is start slow and build yourself up.
Pain killers and antidepressants do not mix well. Ask your doctor first.

Workouts and Programs / Question...

It depends on your capabilities and your preferences but the workouts labeled intense rather than moderate or casual burn the most calories. Just be aware that intense workouts also can demand more if you.

Thanks Scotty. You answered my question. I was contemplating substituting a meal for a protein shake in order to lose weight but you just removed all doubt.

Diet & Nutrition / Yogurt

Yoplait usually has the most sugar which is why it tastes so good. Personally, I try not to eat so much since it always seems to throw my bodies cultures off balance.
There are some really smart, helpful people on this site.Β  Have a great day!

Motivation & Support / Discouraged

Well it's time to look at other factors. Diet, stress, sleep can also affect your body.Β  Medication also plays a big part of it. Right now I am in a constant battle of a medication that is known to add 15 pounds a year. Although exercise helps I have trouble staying conscious of eating throughout the day. I get so focused that I forget to eat then when I do I overeat. It's a battle but one that can be overcome.
I Hope you find that extra push because you are worth it!!

Welcome Wagon / Time management

Oh, boy. When time and energy permit. Try to make 3 times a week but I won't give up if I do less. Sometimes I workout everyday of the week. I just go with the flow.

Men's Locker Room / Shin splints !!

Stretch, stretch, stretch!!! Gotta stretch the gastrocnemius.Β  Take a step fwd then bend the back leg (down so your glutes are closer to floor) and keep the fwd leg straight. Keep that leg extended for 15 sec. Then lift your toes toward the ceiling and try to touch your toes with the leg still extended for 15 sec. Switch legs.

Nifty 50 Somethings / Pain in Upper Right Buttock

Hmmm.... I wonder if you put more weight on your right side than your left? Sometimes the way you stand and sit has a lot to do with back pain.Β

Motivation & Support / Sick feeling

As much as I hate to say it but you are abusing your body. You have to eat small nutritious foods if you want to lose weight. I am not an expert or dietician but it's plain to see your own body is telling you something is wrong. If you don't eat, you run the risk of getting ulcers, anemia and anorexia.

Love yourself and respect your body. Eat more often.
