Hi guys! - Just here to say a little bit about my favourite warm drink! Maybe excluded mulled wine here! - Coffee has a bad name. High fat, lots of sugar, bad baristas, etc. Make coffee one of the most stigmatized drinks in the world. - But what if I tell you it's not all bad? Like, mostly good instead! - Lets start off with the best part. Reduced risk of heart disease, diabetes, cancer and Alzheimer's! Now, this isn't just going to happen when you drink coffee. You're not going to magically rid your body of the rocks and...

Hi, Paul. There are many ways in which to fight the tedium of repetitive exercise. Are you just bored or do certain exercise effect your post-op physical state?

Workouts and Programs / Work-it-Out!

Hi guys!
Going to start an on-going post here.

I have many workouts that attack you at all angles, paces and intensities but what kind of workouts would you like to see?

One based solely on the floor, around jumping, Low-Impact, pure legs, double-up areas (for example, legs and shoulders - or any combination).

Drop some ideas in this forum, or even privately message me and we shall see what we can do :).

Peace! ✌️

Sam

Welcome Wagon / Victory pose!

When you beat a goal, overcome an obstacle or just do something you never thought you'd be able to accomplish, get yourself a victory pose.

Let's capture the moment in which you claimed victory, let the whole community know you're smashing it. Motivate and dominate .

Motivation & Support / Aiming. Acting. Achieving!

Here we are... 2017 is in full swing and we aren't going back. We can take a lot of negative out of 2016, a lot of loved people we lost, money, friends, jobs, etc. But we can also take all of the positives that we gained.

It is within ourself to act on our aims to achieve them.

So I ask you this...

What AIMS do you plan to ACT on to ACHIEVE?

Make 2017 your year.

Everyday, out!

Welcome Wagon / Making it habit

"On Average, it takes a little more than two months before a new behaviour becomes automatic - 66 days to be exact. And how long it takes a new habit to form can vary widely depending on the behaviour, the person, and the circumstances. In 'Lally's study', it took anywhere from 18 days to 254 days for people to form a new habit."

This piece of information has interested me for a while!

When trying to create new habits you must realise it is all mental!
Behaviour, attitude, mentality, focus and the person themselves are all involves in this statistic.

If your focus and determination is strong, as well as your cognitive abilities, it is pretty much a guarantee that you will develop habits much faster.

This all brings me to the following question;

What habits have you had trouble developing lately?

Aim. Act. Achieve!

Weight Loss / Burn fat and preserve muscle?

Hi! A great way you can burn the fat whilst not losing the muscle is some endurance power sets!
So go for, say, sets of 45 seconds and do as many reps as you can, rest a third of your active time and go again. Do 3-5 sets and switch the type of contraction for the next set.

So if your first set is, for example, Crunches (flexion) the second exercises can be Russian Twists (rotation) or planks (isometric).
All about trial-and-error... You'll get there!

Motivation & Support / Need some motivation?

Do you need some motivation?

Maybe think you need to stay on track some more through this next year?

I posted this on my status a few days ago and though 'why not put it in the community wide forum'.

So here it is...

'I've got a great challenge for you guys... It will take 365 days to complete. Get different stacks of however much paper you want in each. One stack will be things you WANT to achieve, do, change, add, remove and conquer in your year. The other stack will be things that you DO achieve, do, change, etc. Keep these stacks separate so you don't copy them each week. Just write as many as you can think of and leave the 'WANT' pile alone for 12 weeks. Each 12-week 'cycle', refer the 'DO' pile to the 'WANT' pile to see how many match. Then add some more you have come up with and see which of the incomplete you can conquer next. Even break your wants down to individual elements to make it more thorough. I.e. Squats - 150 without resting, running - 1.5 miles in under 9 minutes, Weight - drop so many stone or lbs, Occupation - find a job I love, Financial - Save £3,000 etc. Good luck and have a superb start to the new year! 2016 is your year to conquer!'

Even if you want to save up enough money to buy that amazing pair of shoes you saw once! Evertime you accomplish something you WANT, it gives you a tiny little boost that 'Hey, I did that, I can do more.' Make it as easy or as tough as you want. Use my list in my photo as inspiration if you want!

Just make it up and don't stop adding to the WANT list and get that DO list filled through the year.

Good luck and I wish you all the best :).

Motivation & Support / Barriers & Beyond!

What barriers are blocking your path to achieving your goals?

Whether your goals are; - Running a sub 3-hour marathon - Squatting 100kg - Breaking the squat or Press-up century (100 reps) - Or even getting up the stairs without breathing heavyyour goals can be achievable but also can be blocked!

What has blocked you in the past and what currently blocks you now?

Get three different colours and a piece of paper:

- Colour 1 - Write down all the barriers that have blocked you in the past and what are currently blocking you
- Colour 2 - Circle the barriers that are recurring
- Colour 3 - Cross out the barriers that you have overcome and outgoing

Now you have a frame for creating a strategy to combat the barriers!

Hope you feel better with Battling barriers and push even harder the next time you start a workout!

Have a great new years and remember... YOUR GOALS ARE ACHIEVABLE!

P.S. Post your list on here and put your recurring barriers, if any, in italic fashion so we know!

Great goals! I will try to help you if you'd like! What are your strategies to get closer to your goals?
22 Dec
my main 2 strategies for eating healthier are (1) I use MyFitnessPal to record food & macros. (2) making a weeks worth of meals & snacks on the weekend, so I dont grab whatever is easy to eat- this will take some leg work, I bet, I only tried it once and need to get beck in the habit. strategies for exercise include keeping my bedroom floor clean so I have an easy place to work out. my weights are in the garage so I dont do much in the winter. I might bring in my 45# bar for a...
