Cooking / Help me with rice!

I stick to brown rice or as we make it in Hawaii "hapa" (means half in Hawaiian) rice. 1/2 white and brown to wean yourself off of white. Try maybe cutting back a little bit at a time. A healthy serving size for rice is a 1/2 cup for me. Of course to fill in the hunger gap ill add extra protein or veggies! As a typical Midwest gal though, sweet potatoes are my weakness!

Ask the Pros / Calories burned specifically tabata

For me, I know they're not! I have an armband like from the biggest loser show that I use when working out to count calories. I'm assuming they base the calorie count on one size of a person, but we all burn differently.

Motivation & Support / Having trouble quitting smoking

I quit after becoming pregnant... That isn't really an option for you! Lol my friend, longtime smoker, switched to electric cigs n swears by um! Not dirt cheap, but somethin to try! He gets his at a kiosk in the mall, i think.

It's a long list, to name a few: always hot & muggy, expensive, overcrowded, worst traffic, rude people, unpatriotic, a lot of drugs, and it's an island!! We are trying to move ASAP! My hubby is from there and doesnt even like it!

Ironically, i lucked out - my hubby's build. He has a swimmer's build. Broad shoulders, naturally muscular, tapered down waist. He doesnt have to workout much to maintain his naturally perfect physique. :)

Yoga / How often can/should you do yoga?

I love power yoga! I started with a package at a studio like a prev poster suggested. The sessions were 2hrs. They felt like 5min though - flew right by and very fun! I went every Sunday. Now i just fit some in everyday and sometimes do a full blown session. My body and mind definitely thanks me every time i do it! :)

When i reach plateaus, i always take a look at my food journal. Usually i'm eating too much sodium & not drinking enough water &/or too much starch & sugar. A lot of items have hidden sodium & sugars like my favorite condiment Sriracha - loaded with sodium. I STILL forget to check labels - very important to check. Also, i agree with cleanse!! I'll make a food swap, i'll swap out something salty for a fruit. I say go a little more "raw foods" when you hit a plateau. I still think you can cook veggies, but use salt free seasoners like Mrs. Dash.
 In a way you will be "eating more" because if you swap 2 slices of bread (avg 140cals) for say 2 portabello mushroom caps (avg 36cal): you can have 2 small apples (avg 60cals for two), and a fat free yogurt (the kind i get is 60cals) for dessert! This always seems to work for me! Kinda like getting 5 shirts for $150 instead of 2 for $140. ☺ bonus: usually, the veggies feel you up more so you'll only want maybe one apple & yogurt or just one or the other. (Happens to me)
Also, adding another 10min (doesn't feel like much to me) of cardio in the day is a nice turbo boost.

Creatine is naturally made in you body and you can get it from your meats, but we don't get enough from those natural sources to have much of an impact that's why some people may supplement with it. As far as the supplement it is very effective especially for sports like football and some track events, if your an athlete I recommend it to you its not banned by the NCAA and is perfectly safe. You can see results with just one teaspoon a day. I would do the loading phase though, it's not necessary

It is a BLAST!! last week was the first one!! SO FUUUNNN! so we take requests for workouts, if there are some in particular you like! We ask that the time total 45 min- 1 hr. if we get request for longer we will do that too! See ya in the GYM!! By the way the showers are on the right and the lockers are on the right, pick a number!! lol

Women's Locker Room / After having a baby...

I ate healthy and often, but I did start out too hard. I kept going to boot camps and doing p90x. BAD IDEA. I didn't give myself time to heal. Excuse the TMI, but in doing too much too soon, i had a "period" for about 3 months. Next time, im gunna just start with walking and yoga until i know for sure everything is healed up!

Health Conditions / Depression and mental health ! Here to help!

In my personal opinion (I worked with middle school and teen kids for the Army) these kids are seeking attention. I always believe in positive attention. Insulting them just fuels the fire. I really believe being positive role midels to them and educating them is best. Encouraging them to be happy kids and to make smart choices is the right way. If they choose to ignore it, then it's on them. We can rest assured we did the right thing as positive adult role models. :) 
On another note, I love the idea of having someone to talk to for our personal mental & emotional health!!! Let's do it!  :-D

Motivation & Support / I cant be the only one?!?!

When I'm upset, instead of "workin' out," I'll go do something fun! I love to hike! Just taking in nature and thinking about nothing but the hike really regreshes me. :) Or trying something new - salsa class? Just go do something you like to do - forget that downer stuff! :-)

Cooking / Food Substitutions

Pureed frozen bananas instead of icecream.
Carrots dipped into salsa instead of chips.
Quinoa instead of rice. (Sometimes I'll eat brown rice) :)
Cauliflower mash instead of mashed potatoes.

Those are my most common ones!
